The Smart-Pumps Consortium partners recently held their second General Assembly in Vigo, hosted by AIMEN. Over two days, we reviewed our first year’s progress and planned for the next.

A key highlight was the tour of AIMEN’s facilities, especially the Laser Application Center and the dedicated Smart-Pumps Hybrid Cell. The Staubli robot is already in place in the hybrid cell, and once the laser source is integrated, we’ll start hybrid manufacturing of heat pump components.

The assembly covered key project developments, including the analysis of novel heat pump components, optimization of manufacturing processes, and integration of smart sensor technologies. We also discussed how to best share our findings and get our innovations to market.

The meeting was a fantastic chance for us to align on next steps, focusing on prototype development, testing protocols, and real-world demonstrations. With this assembly setting the stage, we’re well on our way to revolutionizing heat pump design and manufacturing.

A big thank you to AIMEN for their hospitality and organization, and to all partners for their active participation and continued dedication to the project’s success!
