ABOUT THE CONSORTIUM
The Smart-Pumps consortium relies on a diverse range of expertise to achieve the project goals. It includes a university (HMU), leading research institutes (CERTH, Aimen), an industry giant (Danfoss) and innovative SMEs (DBL, Aethon) from across Europe. This combination ensures a comprehensive approach encompassing research, development, manufacturing and market application.
HMU, the project coordinator, brings strong optimised digital design and manufacturing capabilities; Danfoss provides industrial leadership and component expertise; CERTH and AIMEN offer advanced research in process optimization and laser technology; AETHON specialises in IT and AI solutions for logistics and engineering, while DBL contributes human-centred design and training expertise. The Consortium collective skill sets and resources will drive the development of groundbreaking heat pump solutions.
Hellenic Mediterranean University performs basic and applied research in several engineering subjects, holding a top position in rankings in Greece.
HMU, specifically NMT research group, will focus on optimising the design, manufacturing and operation of novel heat pumps and their components based on thermodynamics and energy transfer analysis, and it will create optimal 3D models of HPs and HP components. It will also lead the coordination of the project.
A Greek SME engineering firm specialised in RDI projects, with a focus on Mobility & Logistics, Smart Cities and Energy, as well as AI/ML and Software Engineering.
AETHON will be responsible for the overall connectivity of HPs and the circular logistics network of the project and will also lead the development and use of AI-based algorithms for optimisation purposes.
AIMEN Technological Centre, founded in 1963, is a European leader in advanced manufacturing, laser and digital technology, smart materials and systems, recycling, and industrial tech services.
AIMEN will manufacture components of our smart Heat Pumps, addressing challenges like material compatibility, sensor integration, and quality control, while optimising production processes through additive and hybrid manufacturing.
The Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) is a leader in transforming scientific knowledge into innovative technological applications, with societal needs always in mind. The Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT) is part of CERTH.
Within the Smart-Pumps project, CERTH/HIT will play a crucial role in designing and assessing performance of optimised smart heat pump components, overseeing standardisation activities, and providing critical insights to enhance environmental sustainability and user acceptance.
Danfoss is a global company, with more than 41.000 employees, founded in Denmark in 1933. Danfoss Climate Solutions segment engineers energy-efficient heating and cooling solutions and aspires to be the leading technology partner towards decarbonization.
Danfoss will provide knowledge on application and specifications of heat pumps and perform the laboratory study on system performance.
An Italian research and consultancy SME specialised in human factors and user-centred design, safety, user acceptance, and dissemination, operating in complex critical domains, like Aviation and Industry 4.0.
Deep Blue will contribute to the evaluation of the human and technical acceptance of the proposed smart heat pumps and lead the communication of the project.
